Service Description: Responsible for planning, developing and implementing all social, recreational and special events for children and youth of the community
  • Provides various activities such as arts and crafts, baking nights, movie nights and outdoor sports events
  • Organizes and supervises various outdoor activities for youth during summer months such as baseball, football, soccer, dodgeball and frisbee
Recreation services and facilities include:
  • Baseball diamond
  • Gymnasium
  • Skating rink
  • Recreation complex, used for feasts, social gatherings, indoor sports activities
Youth Wilderness Retreat Program (YWRP)
  • Coordinates an annual wilderness camp experience for children, youth and families for one week in July
  • Focus is to promote leadership and cultural knowledge with many of the teachings provided by local elders and experienced instructors
  • Offers fun events, sports activities and practical skills learning such as medicine walks, fish netting, boat and motor safety, first aid/water training, moose hunting skills and preparation of traditional food
