Service Description: Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities
Activities and services for community members also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Hospital services available at Geraldton and Thunder Bay
  • Ontario First Nation Policing arrangements through Nishnawbe-Aski Police Services (NAPS) Northwest Region, Nibinamik Detachment; local phone: 807-593-2151; fax: 807-593-2125
  • Child & Family services provided by Tikinagan Child & Family Services, head office in Thunder Bay
  • Offers a few private businesses including Summer Beaver Gas Service, Timmins Wabasse Convenience Store, Anik's Store and Nibinamik Fur Trading Co
  • Provides the Northern Store and a Canada Post postal station
  • Offers a local taxi service and a laundromat
  • Offers the Anglican Church of Canada with Sunday services conducted in the Native language
  • Serviced with flights to/from Summer Beaver Airport, 4.6 km SW of the community; administered and operated by Ministry of Transportation
  • Provides a community Daycare Program
  • Offers health care and health programs through the Nursing Station
  • Administers Nibinamik Education Centre and education services under Nibinamik Education Authority
  • Operates a Volunteer Fire Department

Nibinamik is a dry community and ALL arriving passengers at airport and via winter road undergo a luggage check for alcohol and/or illegal substances
