Service Description: This project helps families to protect members who may wander, individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease, Autism, Down Syndrome, acquired brain injury or other kinds of cognitive impairment. These individuals can be equipped with a one-ounce wrist-transmitter which sends a radio signal that can be tracked up to a 2 kilometer radius

The system operates 24-7, 365 days a year

When notified by caregivers that an individual is missing, specially trained police officers use mobile tracking equipment to find them

Additional Information:
  • Participants must live in Caledon or Dufferin. Participants who move from this area will have to withdraw from the program
  • The program applies to people with a history of wandering or who have been deemed by a physician as someone that may wander due to cognitive disability or impairment
  • There is an initial charge of $400 to lease the transmitter; however, a subsidy may be available for low income participants
  • There is a $10 monthly fee for transmitter batteries
  • Participants must understand and agree that radio-locating technology used in this project is not intended as a substitute for responsible childcare or caregiver practices
