Service Description: Grief support and counselling provided by staff and trained peer supporters to adults who have experienced a suicide loss * does not provide crisis counselling

  • 12-week psychoeducational Closed Support Groups * groups are held at the Canadian Mental Health Association Halton Branch office in Oakville, every Monday, plus the first and second Wednesdays of each month
  • Suicide Loss Open Group: virtual monthly drop-in group meetings for suicide loss grievers * 4th Monday of each month in Burlington * registration is required
  • one-on-one grief support with trained peer supporters or professional staff
  • specialized trauma counselling
  • consultations and resources provided to families
  • community education and training for professionals and volunteers about suicide loss and traumatic loss
 
HOPELINE Offers immediate suicide loss information and guidance * Suicide Loss Bereavement Care Specialists answer questions about suicide loss grief, provide information about supportive services, how to help grieving children, teens, or adult family members and friends, or suggest other community support services * virtual groups and events are also available, check website for information
Fees: Donations requested, but optional
Application: Self referral * registration is required to participate in support groups
