Service Description: Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities
Activities and services for community members also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Child and Family Services provided independently under the direction of Anishinaabe Abinoojii Family Services
  • Hospital services available at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora
  • Ontario First Nation Policing arrangements through Wabaseemoong Police Station, Treaty #3 Police Services; Wabaseemoong Patrol Zone ph: 807-927-2085, fax: 807-927-2235
  • Provides the Whitedog Post Office
  • Offers a Resource Centre which serves as a youth drop-in centre
  • Provides a community water tower and treatment facility
  • Participates in partnerships with Wincrief Homes and Miisun forest management
  • Administers Mizhakiiwetung Memorial School for students from K-Grade 12 and the Wabaseemoong Independent Nation Day Care Centre
  • Offers the Wab Shki Biney Seek Calai Health Centre
  • Community members severely affected in 1960's-70's by mercury poisoning; federal gov't funding of $19.5 million announced in Sep 2020 for health facility for community members with mercury poisoning
