Service Description: Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities
Activities and services for community members also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Child and Family Services worker on-reserve provided through Tikinagan Child and Family Services in Sioux Lookout
  • Hospital services available at Meno Ya Win Health Centre in Sioux Lookout
  • Ontario First Nation Policing arrangements through Nishnawbe-Aski Police Services, Northwest Region; local ph: 807-771-1177; fax: 807-771-1176
  • Offers 1 main Northern Store, 3 locally owned convenience stores, Kerry's Coffee House, the Keewaywin Motel and 1 gas station
  • Offers the Full Gospel Church
  • Operates a Canada Post postal service
  • Offers a local radio station
  • Operates a small airport maintained and serviced by the Ministry of Transportation Ontario and served by Wasaya Airways
  • Maintains a technology centre for community members to access computers and Internet at the E-Centre
  • Administers Keewaywin First Nation School for students from JK-Grade 8
  • Provides health care and health programs at Keewaywin Nursing Station
Keewaywin is a dry community and ALL arriving passengers at airport and via winter road undergo a luggage check for alcohol and/or illegal substances
