Service Description: Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities
Activities and services for community members also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Child and Family Services workers on-reserve provided through Anishinaabe Abinooji Family Services in Kenora
  • Hospital and ambulance services available at Dryden Regional Hospital in Dryden
  • Ontario First Nation Policing arrangements through Treaty #3 Police; call 1-888-310-1122 for police services to be dispatched to reserve, or Kenora East Patrol Zone ph: 807-755-1540, fx: 807-755-1541
  • Owns the first "healthy house" in North America, a home built using environmentally friendly technology and materials, and powered by the wind and sun
  • Serviced by air through the Dryden Regional Airport, 42 km from community
  • Operates a Bingo Palace
  • Offers the P & R Convenience Store & Gas Bar, and Eagle Lake Contracting Heavy Equipment services
  • Offers 3 private home-based catering service businesses and a Kels Photography business
  • Provides a Community Hall, available for community members to book for activities and events
  • Provides many cultural activities including Pow-wows, community sweats, sharing circles, arts and crafts, and traditional healing and elders activities
  • Hosts community feasts, Family New Year's Eve dance, winter carnival, science fair, fish derbies and many sports activities such as hockey tournaments and baseball tournaments
  • Offers chid care at the Early Childhood Development Center
