Service Description: Operates a fully-accredited 60-bed acute care facility and provides an array of services including:
  • Acute care services
  • Ambulatory care
  • Chemotherapy
  • Cardio pulmonary, stress testing and pulmonary function tests
  • Complex continuing care
  • Day surgery
  • Dialysis unit (on-site provided by Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre)
  • Diagnostic imaging (x-rays, mammography, ultrasound, CT scans)
  • Emergency Department
  • Infection control
  • Land and air ambulance services
  • Nutrition services
  • Obstetrics and maternity
  • Operating room and surgery
  • Rehabilitation
  • Ultrasound unit (includes mobile services in 17 First Nation communities)

Interpreter Services
  • Provides interpreter services at Meno Ya Win Health Centre and William "Bill" George Extended Care Facility in the Oji-Cree, Ojibway and Cree languages
  • Offers oral interpretation and written translation services (filling out forms etc)
Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN)
  • Provides access to specialized medical care using videoconferencing and other tele-diagnostic equipment
  • Allows specialists to remotely examine and prescribe treatments to patients in their home communities
  • Reduces the need to travel to receive care
